Me and Andrew being silly |
This year I became a quarter-centurion and decided I needed to have a place to go to share all my passions with friends. I'm terrible at keeping up with people over the phone - just ask my mom or any one of my friends who get mad at me for not calling them back (I can't help it, I just hate phones). This would be fine if I grew up in one town, never left, and I see all my friends and family every week. Fortunately this isn't the case. I was lucky enough to have a family who loved to travel. I grew up on 2 different continents and have friends all over the world. This, however, has caused a little bit of a problem for me...since I lack basic communication skills I barely catch up with my friends and they hardly know what's going on in my life. So instead of telling the same story over and over again, I decided to start a blog.
'Kiwi at Heart' was going to be my personalized license plate when I bought my beautiful red convertible last year (which sadly I no longer drive), however, some douche bag person already had that idea! I call myself Kiwi at Heart because while I was born in the US my family moved to New Zealand when I was 8. I spent my formative years there and wound up back in the US for high school. Everyone is thoroughly confused when I tell them I grew up in NZ - I don't have an accent, and apparently that's they only way to prove you're actually from a foreign country! While I might not sound like a Kiwi, I can certainly act the part. I prefer rugby over football. I say heaps, keen, and bugger (when I'm trying really hard not to swear). And I believe Christmas should be spent at the beach having a BBQ.
Hiking with my parents labs - Tui & Kiri (couldn't be more Kiwi than that)! |
While putting this page together I noticed that I don't have many photos of just me...and those that I do have are usually me pulling faces! Need to work on this!
